Comparison

PixelChat vs running Tidio and Klaviyo together

Comparing PixelChat to Tidio alone, or to Klaviyo alone, understates the decision. Tidio has no broadcast email marketing, so a store that wants campaigns as well as chat has historically bought both products. That is still the most common stack we see. This page compares PixelChat against it — including the parts that never show up on an invoice — and it is fair to note up front that Klaviyo has since added its own chat and helpdesk layer, which gives you a third option: consolidate onto Klaviyo instead.

What the two-tool stack looks like

It is a sensible stack. Each product is best-in-class at its own job. The problems are at the seams.

The three costs nobody quotes you

1. The integration tax

Chat contacts have to reach the email platform. That is usually a Zapier task, a connector, or a developer. Whichever it is, it runs on someone's account, breaks quietly when a field name changes, and produces duplicate profiles when an email address arrives in a slightly different shape.

2. Split context for your operators

An operator answering a chat cannot see that the customer opened three campaigns and clicked a product last week, because that lives in the other tool. So the same customer gets asked questions the business already knows the answer to.

3. Two metering models pulling in opposite directions

One product meters conversations, the other meters contacts. A good month — more traffic, more signups — increases both bills simultaneously, and the second one keeps charging you for contacts long after they have gone quiet.

Where the two-tool stack still wins

Consolidation is not automatically correct. Keep the two-tool stack when:

  • You need SMS as a revenue channel — PixelChat has no SMS.
  • You need Facebook Messenger and Instagram in the support inbox.
  • Your email programme depends on A/B testing, send-time optimisation or predictive segments.
  • You are on Shopify rather than WooCommerce.
  • Your flows need branching logic that a simpler automation builder cannot express.

Do the audit before the migration

List the features you used in the last 90 days, not the ones that made you buy. Most stores find the overlap between what they pay for and what they use is smaller than expected — but some find the opposite, and for them staying put is the right call.

A sane consolidation order

  1. Move chat first. It is the lower-risk half — install the WordPress plugin, load the knowledge base, run both widgets briefly, then remove the old script.
  2. Import contacts to PixelChat lists but keep sending from your existing email tool for one cycle.
  3. Rebuild the single highest-revenue automation — almost always abandoned cart — and compare its numbers against the incumbent's for a full cycle.
  4. Move broadcast campaigns once that automation is at parity.
  5. Cancel the second subscription last, not first.

Frequently asked questions

Is one platform always cheaper than two?
Not always, and it depends on your list size and conversation volume. It is reliably simpler — one contact database, one set of automations, one place to look when something breaks.
Can I run PixelChat alongside Klaviyo during a migration?
Yes. Run PixelChat for chat and contacts while Klaviyo keeps sending, then move campaigns once you have compared one full cycle of automation performance.
What do I lose by consolidating?
SMS, Meta social inbox channels, A/B testing, send-time optimisation and predictive analytics. If any of those are load-bearing for you, keep the specialist tool.
How long does a full migration take?
Chat is usually an afternoon. Email typically takes one full campaign cycle to validate properly — plan for a few weeks of overlap rather than a hard cutover.
