PixelChat vs Tidio
Tidio and PixelChat solve the same first problem: answer website visitors quickly, with AI first and a human second. They diverge after that. Tidio is a support platform that expects you to buy an email marketing tool separately. PixelChat puts the chatbot, the inbox, the contact database and the email engine in one place, on one WordPress install.
The short version
If all you need is a chat widget with an AI that answers FAQs, Tidio is a mature, well-rated product and it will do that job. Choose PixelChat when the chat conversation is only the first step — when the same contact needs to land in a list, receive an abandoned-cart sequence, and show up in an operator's inbox with their WooCommerce order history attached.

Where Tidio is genuinely stronger
A comparison page that only lists the other product's weaknesses is not worth reading. Tidio has been shipping since 2013 and there are things it does that PixelChat does not, today:
- Channel breadth — Facebook Messenger and Instagram land in the same inbox. PixelChat covers website chat, email and WhatsApp, not the Meta social channels.
- A visual, drag-and-drop automation canvas. PixelChat's automations are real and they run, but you build them through forms rather than by dragging nodes around a canvas.
- Native mobile apps for operators. PixelChat's inbox is responsive web only.
- Shopify. If you are on Shopify rather than WooCommerce, Tidio is the better fit and we would say so.
- A much larger template gallery and a longer track record of third-party reviews.
Where PixelChat is stronger
1. Email marketing is included, not bolted on
Tidio's automations act on the chat conversation. They do not give you a campaign builder, subscriber lists, dynamic segments, or a template editor for broadcast email. Most Tidio users end up paying for a second product — usually Klaviyo or Mailchimp — to do that work, then paying a third time in engineering effort to keep the two contact databases in sync.
In PixelChat the visitor who chats with the bot at 9pm is already a contact. You can add them to a list from the inbox, they can enter an automation, and their chat transcript sits on the same profile as their campaign opens and their WooCommerce orders.
2. Conversation volume is not the meter
Tidio meters three separate units on the same account: billable conversations, Lyro AI conversations, and Flows measured in "visitors reached". Each has its own allowance and each can run out independently. Tidio's own documentation is explicit that a Lyro conversation is counted once an AI reply is sent, and that on the free tier Lyro simply stops working when the 50-conversation allowance is gone; paid Lyro packages run from 50 to 1,000 conversations a month. Read Tidio's current definition of each unit before you model your bill — the units are not interchangeable and "visitors reached" is not the same thing as conversations held.
PixelChat bills a flat fee per tenant. AI replies are not individually metered against a conversation counter that stops answering your customers when it empties.
Check the current numbers yourself
We deliberately do not print competitor prices on this page. Vendor pricing changes without notice and a stale figure is a false claim. Compare the published plan pages side by side before you decide.
3. WooCommerce is first-class, not an integration
Tidio also ships a WordPress plugin, and it syncs your active WooCommerce catalogue so operators can send product cards from the inbox — credit where it is due. The gap is what happens after the product card. Tidio markets cart preview, order history and order actions such as refunds and address changes as Shopify-exclusive features; its published WooCommerce integration page does not offer them. PixelChat's plugin installs the widget, syncs products into the knowledge base so the AI can answer questions about real stock, and emits the cart events that trigger abandoned-cart email — on WooCommerce, with no middleware step and no Zapier task in between.
4. Seats
Tidio's pricing page states that you can add up to 10 agents on its self-serve plans, with custom numbers available on the Plus package. Passing that ceiling means a conversation with sales rather than a checkbox, which hurts most in seasonal businesses that need extra people for six weeks a year. PixelChat does not put an artificial seat ceiling on its SMB tier.
Migrating from Tidio
- Export your Tidio contacts to CSV and import them into a PixelChat list.
- Copy your FAQ answers into the PixelChat knowledge base, or point the scraper at your help pages and let it pull them in.
- Install the PixelChat WordPress plugin and connect your site — the widget replaces the Tidio script tag.
- Recreate your highest-value Tidio flow as a PixelChat automation. Start with abandoned cart; it usually pays for the migration on its own.
- Run both widgets for a week if you want a safety net, then remove the Tidio script.
Frequently asked questions
- Is PixelChat a direct Tidio replacement?
- For website chat, AI answers, the operator inbox, quick replies, CSAT and WhatsApp — yes. If your support depends on Facebook Messenger or Instagram threads, or on Tidio's native mobile operator apps, PixelChat does not cover those today.
- Does PixelChat cap AI conversations like Tidio's daily limits?
- No. PixelChat's AI replies are not metered against a per-conversation allowance that stops the bot answering once it is exhausted.
- Can I use PixelChat on Shopify?
- Not today. PixelChat is built WordPress and WooCommerce first. If you run Shopify, Tidio is the better product for you.
- Do I still need Klaviyo if I use PixelChat?
- Usually not. PixelChat includes contact lists, segments, campaigns, templates and automations. Klaviyo remains stronger on predictive analytics and SMS, which PixelChat does not offer.
- Does PixelChat put its own branding on the widget?
- No. The widget is white-labelled per tenant, so your customers see your brand rather than ours.
